Graduate School is Over!!!

Hey everyone,

I know its been almost 3 months since I wrote, but I have been very busy. I have finished my practicum in special education and had a very good experience at the school. I gave them my resume and I hope they call me for September, even though I doubt that will happen. I finished my teacher portfolio and it is pretty big. I had an interview in March for Select Recruits from the NYC Department of Education, but I didn’t get into the program. I went to 2 job fairs so far and even though they were supposed to be job fairs they were actually interview fairs. Tons of people were at both of them. The first fair I didn’t even get to be interviewed because there were so many people. At least I got three interviews at the second fair. I am actually going to another job fair this Wednesday in Queens. I’m hoping that this is an actual job fair.

Besides school and job hunting I have seen a few movies, been shopping and have been going to IWD. I have seen the Five Year Engagement, American Reunion, and Three Stooges.  I am at IWD twice a week now taking Zumba and a class with weights, not that I can lift anything more than 2 pounds :P.

Tomorrow I am graduating Grad School!!!! I recieved an award for Outstanding Academic Achevement for graduating with a 3.97 gpa!!!

I hope that I have things do do now that I am done with school otherwise I will be spending a lot of time at home which is good but can also be boring. I can’t wait to see whats next for me!!

Past 2 weeks

Hey so I haven’t written in a while so here are a few things that I have done in the past 2 weeks:

1. The school that I’m observing/student teaching at had a quality review. This is when people from the state come to the school, go into every classroom, watch a lesson being done and go through EVERYTHING in the classroom. We were all so nervous. My teacher did a very good lesson and every adult in the room was assisting a student. The people from the state were taking notes on everything and everyone. Even the posters on the walls. We heard they were happy when they left so that is a good thing.

2. I went to Orlando, Florida with my family for 3 nights and 4 days. We stayed in a hotel right across the street from Sea World. It was AWSOME! We had a very early flight so we were at the hotel by 12pm. That afternoon we went to sea world and saw a show with dolphins. We also saw flamingos, turtles, and played a water gun game. We went back the next day and saw another show with Shamu the big whale. We also went on a helicopter simulator ride, saw more dolphins, polar bears, manatees, and alligators.  The great thing about Orlando is that there are wheelchair accessible cabs that you can call and they will come in a half hour. You don’t have to call the day before like in New York. So that night we were able to go to city walk in universal. We ate at an Italian restaurant and then walked around. The third day we went back to Universal and went to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. At Islands of Adventure we met Thing 1 and 2 from the cat in the hat, and walked around. We didn’t do any rides which sucked. Harry Potter World looks so cool. It is a must see. In universal studios I saw the Fear Factor show, Terminator 3D, and Shrek 4D. By the way the parks are very accessible!! We flew Jet Blue and they did not break my wheelchair!!

3. IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY!! I’m 26 now. I got cool gifts and my friends are throwing me a party tomorrow night. I love them, it gonna be a blast!
